Description
Master the Art of Ambush with Necrons: Ophydian Destroyers
The Ophydian Destroyers represent a terrifying evolution of the Destroyer Cult within the Necron dynasties. These mechanical horrors have traded their legs for a serpentine, segmented body that allows them to tunnel through solid rock and phase through reality itself. Driven by a nihilistic urge to erase all biological life, they strike from the shadows with terrifying speed and precision.
In the lore of Warhammer 40,000, these creatures are shunned even by their fellow Necrons due to their unsettling nature and the “flayer virus” adjacent madness that consumes them. They do not simply kill; they disassemble their prey with a cold, flickering efficiency. When the ground beneath your feet begins to vibrate with the hum of ancient machinery, the Ophydian Destroyers are already upon you.
Fast and Deadly Melee Specialists
On the tabletop, you can slice your way through enemy units with the fast and deadly Ophydian Destroyers. These units serve as premier melee skirmishers for a Necrons army, utilizing their high movement characteristic and deep-strike capabilities to threaten the opponent’s backline. They are designed to bypass front-line defenses and strike at vulnerable support characters or objective holders.
Armed with hyperphase weapons and Ophydian claws, little can survive an attack from these floating killers. Their ability to “tunnel” allows them to be removed from the battlefield and redeployed in later turns, making them a constant psychological threat. Whether you need to contest a distant objective or eliminate a heavy weapons team, these Destroyers are the ideal tool for the job.
Customization and Kit Specifications
This 57-part plastic kit makes three Ophydian Destroyers and a Plasmacyte. The inclusion of the Plasmacyte is crucial, as you can accompany your unit with this construct to power up the Destroyers, boosting their strength and attacks at the risk of internal mechanical strain. The kit is designed with versatility in mind, ensuring your unit looks as dynamic as it plays.
The kit comes with six different heads, meaning that you can customise your Destroyers to give each one a unique, menacing look. The hyperphase reap-blades and threshers are intricately detailed, reflecting the advanced technology of the Necron empire. The serpentine bodies are posed in mid-strike, capturing the fluid and unnatural movement that makes these models stand out in any collection.

Tactical Tips for the Overlord
- Burrowing Horrors: Always keep these in strategic reserves to force your opponent to screen their rear-line units.
- Plasmacyte Synergy: Use the Plasmacyte’s “Infusion” ability right before a charge to maximize the damage output of the hyperphase blades.
- Painting Advice: Use technical paints like Tesseract Glow for the power blades to create a striking contrast against dark metallic bodies.
