Description
Armored Sorcery: Thousand Sons Rubric Marines
Many Warhammer 40,000 battleline infantry units struggle to survive midfield firefights, often folding under focused anti-infantry firepower and failing to hold primary objectives. The Thousand Sons Rubric Marines eliminate this weakness. Bound in ancient power armor sealed by the Rubric of Ahriman, these spectral warriors march relentlessly forward through enemy fire, providing the durable anchor your army needs to control the tempo of the game.
Led by a scheming Aspiring Sorcerer, a squad of Rubric Marines does not just soak up damage—they retaliate with devastating arcane armaments that tear apart power armor, heavy infantry, and screening swarms with ease.
Why Thousand Sons Rubric Marines Are Indispensable on the Tabletop
1. Devastating Armor-Piercing Firepower
Standard boltguns often bounce off elite targets, but the Rubric Marines carry Inferno boltguns that rip through heavy armor saves with native Armor Penetration. For close-range denial, you can equip the unit with warpflamers, turning the squad into an aggressive Overwatch threat that automatically incinerates charging enemies before they can strike.
2. Exceptional “All is Dust” Defense
Because their physical bodies have been reduced to ash, Rubric Marines are immune to mortal frailties like fear, hesitation, or pain. On the tabletop, the All is Dust rule bolsters their armor save against low-damage weapons, forcing your opponent to dedicate dedicated anti-tank weapons to eliminate what is fundamentally a Battleline scoring unit.
3. Sorcerous Command and Cabal Synergy
Every squad is anchored by an Aspiring Sorcerer wielding a force weapon and channeling the warp. This squad leader does not just grant potent psychic ranged attacks; they generate crucial Cabal Points, fueling army-wide ritual mechanics that allow you to twist fate, gain extra movement, or strip armor saves from enemy targets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I build this kit as a full Warpflamer squad?
Yes. The kit includes enough warpflamers to outfit all nine Rubric Marines with torrent weapons alongside the Aspiring Sorcerer, making it ideal for building a dedicated close-range “flamer brick.”
What is the easiest way to paint the ornate gold trim on Rubric Marines?
A widely recommended technique is to prime the entire model with Retributor Armour gold spray. Once primed, shade the recesses and fill in the armor panels with Thousand Sons Blue. This saves significant hobby time compared to painting every individual trim line by hand.
Can this box be split into two 5-man squads?
While the kit includes 10 bodies, it provides components to build one full Aspiring Sorcerer leader. Many hobbyists build one 10-man unit, or use extra bits from exalted sorcerer kits to convert a second Aspiring Sorcerer and field two separate 5-man squads.
